All we need is a Black President?Walking through Camden I discovered those two Obama merchandise objects recently (I’m sure there are many more like these out there – i ll keep you updated)
I find it so bizarre to see this guy’s face on a handbag next to one with the Beatles. Just like a rock star. And when you look at the t-shirt! He is placed next to the revolutionary Che Guevara and a crazyfaced Jack Nicholson!
It fascinates me how our perception of history and their icons has become so blurred and put into a different context and well totally out of context.
Our today is not much about facts – but about image.
I mean ask anyone who Che Guevara is. Many don’t know – and many don’t care – all they care is a certain idea they have of him. Revolution. Rebellion. Especially when you’re a teenager it’s considered to be cool to rebell against something, against the now, the government – or just anything. Probably one of the reason you see his face printed on anything from postcards to bed sheets.
And what about Obama? I mean he is a president in power since only a few months! And already on souvenirs next to some of the biggest icons of the last century. It can’t be based on things he’s done – cause he had almost no time to do any. Our perception of him is mostly build on the things he said he’ll be doing, and people said about him and well because obviously he is the first BLACK U.S. president.
For me it will be very interesting, if he will manage to live up to that image of hope and change he has amongst so many people. I really wish he will make some positive history and not just hysteria.
Despite that, i still think whoever buys a handbag with the face of a U.S. president is a pathetic media victim with a lack of taste and own personality! 😉
A short while ago I posted this photo I took of this crappy little attempt of a dog:

The other day I found this genius design idea for a hand bag on the internet. Made me laugh as it speaks from the bottom of my heart:

WTF are people doing to animals!? If you like a pet this size, buy a rat!! But please stop breeding creatures who have to cope all life with being caught in such a un-natural litte fucked-up body!
Sums up our shitty throw-away-society!
One word: WOW!!!!
Okay maybe some more: This video really just made me drop my jaw in awe about an incredible idea which makes me really look forward to the (near) future.
With a simple web cam, projector, mirror and internet connection this devices presents you the world with your fingertips. When looking at and touching objects or people in front of you – it pojects additional info onto those objects. It’s so simple but REALLY inspiring. You really gotta watch the whole video.
The Glove season is not over yet as these latest discoveries prove. To see the whole selection of them click on the photos or here>>
Somehow this photo somes up many things I hate about mankind.
TWO different lost gloves in one go!! 🙂
Since the beginning of the Iraq and the Afghanistan wars the Sun runs a campaign that calls any British soldier who dies over there a Hero, may it be because he or she died in a battle, was ambushed or shot accidentally by a bored fellow soldier.
Now everyone with a bit of a brain should know by now that the reasons the UK went to war were everything but heroic.
Under the name of fighting terrorists and spreading democracy it really all happend for mere colonial and capitalist interests in securing resources mainly in the form of oil. (Afghanistan is one of the key access points to the Kaspian Sea – which is one of the biggest untapped oil reservours in the world! – and i don’t think i need to tell you how much oil is in Iraq – it’s an old story)
For people who might not know: The UK doesn’t have a military draft system – which means that everyone joining the army completely does so at their own free will. So in the moment you sign up – you sign away your right to complain about the danger it might bring for you. It was YOUR decision! And you also know perfectly well that in case you get killed – you’ll leave behind a few really heartbroken people. (I’m sick to see another story about a wife with a little child who lost “Hero Dad!”)
So for whatever reason (the queen?, the uniform?, “adventure?”, killing humans? money? “something to do”? “education?” “a career?” ) you join the army of this imperialistic country namely United Kingdom – you lose the right to be called Hero forever! Instead they should call you victim of a lying greedy system or maybe just Egotistic Idiot!
And if you now say – you joined the army because you want to help people and safe some lifes – then go and bloody join the Fire Brigade!!!

I think i ll never understand why mankind has spent thousands of years to turn an amazing proud animal like the wolf into this freaky piece of WTF!

Poor Umbrellas, they selflessly fight for you against the nastiest rain and storm so that your precious hair and clothes stay dry. And then when they get injured in that unfair battle, they are just left to die and rott in the gutter!!!!
